How to make queries:

At least one selection in every list box has to be made to show a result for each variable. When you wish to see one or a few variables, mark these only. To undo a mark, press the button CTRL and click the mouse button on the text.

To select/deselect all lines in a list box

  • Mark the first line in the list box. Then press the SHIFT and END keys simultaneously.
  • Another way to select all lines is to simply click the Select All Button button. To deselect all lines, click the Unselect all button button.

To select/undo a marked line in a list box

  • Press the button CTRL and click the left mouse button on the selected line simultaneously.

To select more than one line in a list box

  • Mark lines in a row by pressing the left mouse button and slip it over the requested lines. Or, mark the first line on your list and then press the button SHIFT at the same time as you press the up or down arrows on the keyboard.
  • Mark lines, not in a row, by pressing the button CTRL at the same time as you click the left mouse button on the requested lines.

To search for a specific value in the list box

  • Mark the first line in the list box. Then type the first letter in the line requested. If you fail in getting the right line, try the typing again until you find the right value. Or use the up or down arrows or the mouse button to look further.
  • You can search for values of the variable by searching its characters. Type the characters in the text box and click the Search text button.

Conventions used for statistical data flags by CountrySTAT:

  • Category not applicable = .  Data for these categories do not even hypothetically exist and/or data included in an other category
  • Data not available = ..  Missing data (data exist but were not collected)
  • Data not yet available = ...  Data exist but not yet collected
  • Not for publication = :  Confidential data
  • Nil = -  Absolute zero (data is equal to zero)
  • Estimated value = "e"
  • Provisional or preliminary figure = "*"
  • Less than 0.5 of unit employed = 0   Insignificant data
  • Less than 0.05 of unit employed = 0,0  To indicate when an observation is different from absolute zero. It means just less than half unit precision level of the observation (e.g.: an observation stored as 0.0 may mean absolute zero or for instance 0.041)
  • Break in the homogeneity of vertical series= --  For each observation (macro or micro), you have several points in time.
  • Break in the homogeneity of horizontal series = |   The data can be cross-section, or related to the same point of time and more statistical units. In the case of macro data by country, the analysis of cross-sectional data sets is usually cross-country analysis.
