Description of the National Government Mandate for Official Data Publication and Dissemination on CountrySTAT

The National institute of statistics of Rwanda is the principal agency of the Government involved in the collection, analysis and dissemination of statistical data and also acts as the official source for statistical information. The national government mandate for official data publication and dissemination on the CountrySTAT web site is with the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources, with very close collaboration with National institute of statistics. The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal resources has the mandate to produce production statistics on Crops, Livestock statistics and its related indicators.

Different data sets are aggregated and validated at the technical working group (TWG) meeting before they are published on the CountrySTAT website.

CountrySTAT Rwanda is primarily composed of a team of Secretariat and technical working group members from various Ministries and Government institutions and helps in ensuring the quality of the official data to be disseminated.

Activities planned towards achieving the objectives of CountrySTATRwanda Project

Activities planned towards achieving the objectives of the CountrySTATproject in Rwanda are as follows;

Technical Working Group Meetings

In implementation of CountrySTAT Rwanda various meetings were held between delegates from various Government institutions from whom a selected Technical Working Group (TWG)  team and the National Coordinating Council was formed. They gave advises on the establishment, organization and operation of the CountrySTATRwanda project. 

These meetings served as a forum to share information about the CountrySTAT framework and promote the collaboration between these institutions in the implementation of the project. 

Communication

Communication is a very important in the implementation of the project, and contributes positively to CountrySTAT Rwanda's achievements.

Here distribution of leaflets published by the CountrySTAT team in Rome to various Ministry staffs was done and is a continuation activity.

A Link to the CountrySTAT Rwanda website was done from Our Ministry website under Ministry web based systems and this helped in CoutrySTAT project awareness.

Launch of CountrySTAT Rwanda

CountrySTAT Rwanda Launch is planned in March 2011,This will facilitate the decision makers and general public have harmonized National Agricultural statistical data from CountrySTAT System and web site.
